Parade in Honor of New York''s Citizen Parade
New York's quota in the first draft of Warold War I was 38,621 men. The men in this parade are from the Rainbow Divison which was training in the area at the time. The Rainbow Division was so named because it was made of picked regiments or companies from nearly every state in the Union, and was the first division of the new National Army that was to be sent across. Many Nation Guard units were taken into this division.
