Description John W. Eckard (1916) (obituary from Goff Advance 13, July 1916, Thurs. G 898, p. 3, c.2) John W. Eckard: John W. Eckard died at the home of his daughter near Circleville on Sat. evening, July 1st. Services held July 7th at the Ontario Cemetary, Rev. Woodburn, veteran minister pioneer of Holton preached the funeral services. Goff I.O.O.F. in charge of grave services.
He was born in Indiana, June 5, 1830, died July 1st 1916. age 86 years and 26 days. Married 1849 to Sarah Jane Steward who died in 1872. In 1876, he married Anna Mehan, who departed last Feb. He was father of thirteen children; six preceded him, 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grand children. John Eckard served in the Civil War, belonged to United Brethren Church in early days, joining Methodist Goff church twenty-five years ago. He was an Odd Fellow at the time of his death.
